Terms of service.

RatedBy provides social-commerce trust and vendor verification services. The service helps buyers, vendors, and approved partners make better-informed trust decisions; it does not guarantee that any transaction will be successful.

Using RatedBy

You may use RatedBy to check vendors, submit complaints, claim vendor profiles, request corrections, and access approved API services. You must provide accurate information and must not misuse, scrape, attack, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.

Accounts and eligibility

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you submit and for activity under your account. We may require verification before giving access to vendor tools, paid services, or API features.

What RatedBy is not

Verification services

Mono Lookup and similar verification services may be used only for vendor onboarding, identity verification, business verification, compliance screening, trust-safety review, dispute review, and fraud prevention. Verification data is not sold, publicly exposed, or used by RatedBy to provide financial services.

Trust Index results

Trust Index outputs are evidence-based decision-support assessments from available signals. They are not a legal finding, financial advice, insurance, credit decision, regulator determination, or a promise that a vendor will or will not perform. Buyers remain responsible for their own transaction decisions.

Complaints and evidence

Complaint submissions must be truthful, specific, and supported by evidence where available. RatedBy may review, reject, weight, suppress, anonymise, or retain complaints according to its trust and safety rules. Raw complaint narratives, filer identity, and private evidence are not public profile content by default.

Vendor claims and corrections

Claiming a profile does not guarantee verification, grade movement, or removal of complaint records. Correction and dispute requests are reviewed through the approved process and do not directly mutate the Trust Index.

Payments and plans

Paid checks, bundles, subscriptions, vendor plans, and API access may be limited by market availability, provider setup, payment-provider rules, refund rules, and abuse controls. Subscription, bundle, vendor-plan, and service payments are processed through licensed third-party payment processors. RatedBy is not the payment processor for those transactions.

Acceptable use

You must not submit false complaints, impersonate another person or vendor, upload unlawful evidence, attempt to expose private data, bypass rate limits, use bots or scrapers against the service, interfere with security controls, or use RatedBy to harass, defame, or threaten others.

API and B2B use

API customers must keep keys confidential, respect usage limits, display freshness and confidence where required, and use outputs only for approved trust and safety workflows. RatedBy outputs must not be resold, used as the sole basis for a regulated decision, or combined with private data in a way that violates law or contract.

Intellectual property

RatedBy owns the product, brand, software, interfaces, documentation, and derived trust outputs except for rights you retain in information you lawfully submit. You grant us the rights needed to process submitted material for the service, safety, dispute, and legal purposes described here.

Availability

RatedBy may change, suspend, or limit parts of the service to protect users, comply with law, respond to abuse, or maintain platform reliability.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for abuse, non-payment, unlawful use, security risk, repeated false submissions, or breach of these terms. We may retain audit, payment, complaint, fraud, or legal records where retention is required or justified.

Limitation of liability

RatedBy is provided to support better decisions, not to insure or guarantee transactions. To the maximum extent allowed by law, RatedBy is not liable for seller conduct, buyer decisions, platform outages, indirect losses, or losses caused by information we could not reasonably verify.

Governing law

These terms are intended to be governed by Nigerian law, subject to mandatory consumer, privacy, platform, payment, or local laws that may apply to you and subject to any separate written agreement between you and RatedBy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as RatedBy adds markets, paid plans, vendor tools, or API services. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
